OVERVIEW

The City of College Park Seniors Program aids seniors in College Park with one-on-one supportive advocacy and navigation assistance with government entitlement programs.  The Seniors Program also provides opportunities for social engagement, emotional support and transportation services.  Case management services are provided for vulnerable seniors in need of additional support. Each service provided by our City Seniors Program staff promotes health and social quality of life while supporting seniors’ self-determination and autonomy.

City Seniors staff are interested in being of assistance and taking your call. If no one is available at the time, please leave a message and repeat your phone number slowly, twice.  A member of our team will return your call within 2 business days.

  1. Social Activities

Keeping Active

TSeniors Programhe City’s Seniors Programs offers a variety of ways to keep mentally and physically active while having fun with your neighbors and friends.  See our calendar for upcoming events.  Join us!

The programs and interactions are an opportunity to meet new friends with common interests.   And, it’s healthy.  Keeping active and engaged with others is a critical component in reducing isolation and sustaining overall wellness, especially as we age.  Research is finding that isolation impacts one’s health as significantly as smoking 15 cigarettes a day and reduces one’s life span by at least 3 years.

Health and Wellness Fair

This is your opportunity to get information about health and senior issues that are important to you.

Each fall, the Seniors Program staff hosts a Health and Wellness Fair for seniors to have the opportunity to get flu shots, vision tests, etc.  Also at the Fair are providers such as Doctors Community Hospital, local pharmacists, Community Legal the Lions Club to provide a variety of health and wellness information.

Senior Social Activities

The social engagement activities are a great opportunity to learn something new or expand your skills in an existing area of interest in a pleasant setting.  They provide an opportunity to engage in programs, socialize and meet new friends.

Seniors Social activities currently take place Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Branchville Fire Department located at 4905 Branchville Road, College Park. To RSVP call 240.487.3614.

*The Seniors Social Program is supported by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission(M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation

FAQ

What type of social activities do you have?
The City’s Seniors Programs offers a variety of ways to keep mentally and physically active while having fun with your neighbors and friends.  These activities include weekly seniors social happenings.

How can I be notified of upcoming senior events?

visit: collegeparkmd.gov/cpconnect.

Sign up for the Super Senior Mailing list by calling 240-487-3614.
