Shop Made in Maryland Coming to City Hall
Brand new retailer, Shop Made in Maryland is coming to College Park’s City Hall. Located on the ground level of City Hall at 7401 Baltimore Avenue, Shop Made in Maryland will showcase local Maryland makers and products. The store will also feature a small dining area serving Cameo Coffee and has plans to serve locally produced beer and wine. The space will also be set up to host events and classes, as well as pop-up shops for local merchants and artisans.
Shop Made In is not a new concept with stores in D.C. and Virginia. This venture has made a tremendous impact in their partnering communities by giving $4 million directly back to local makers, serving more than 420 makers, helping 10% of makers to get their own storefronts, and growing their businesses. Also impressive is that 87% of makers are women, and 35% are people of color. Co-founder Stacey Price was named Washington’s Business Journal’s Small Business Owner of the Year for 2020 for her work with this concept.
Shop Made in Maryland is expected to open September 2022. The City of College Park contributed a grant of $75,000 that will go towards the construction buildout of the ground floor retail space.
