City of College Park
2021 YOUTH SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The City of College Park is moving forward with offering our annual summer camp scholarships. Youth (rising K-12) who reside in the City of College Park are eligible to apply. Scholarships are granted up to a maximum of $400 per student. Students are eligible to receive a scholarship for one camp session only. Priority is given to youth who did not receive a City of College Park scholarship in previous years. In prior years, the scholarship was for a University of Maryland (UMD) summer camp, only. Due to COVID 19 and State guidelines, UMD has modified their camp offerings with limited slots, camp options, and setting. Some camps are in-person while others are virtual. For this reason, this year, we are extending use of our scholarship to include camps hosted by Prince George’s County Department of Parks & Recreation and Prince George’s Community College.
Scholarships may be used for both in person and virtual camp opportunities.

Applications are due by May 21, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Notifications will be sent on June 1, 2021.
FAQs
- I have more than one child. Can each child be awarded a scholarship?
Yes. However, please fill out a separate application for each child.
- My child is home-schooled, can I still apply?
Yes, if the child is entering grade K-12 (2021-2022 school year) and lives in the City of College Park.
- Do I need to register with the UMD camp or will you?
When you are contacted by the City of College Park that your child has received a scholarship, you will receive information about the next step of registering your child for the camp.
- How will I be contacted that I have or have not received the scholarship?
You will be contacted by email or U.S. mail with the addresses you provided on your application about your child’s application status.
- What if my child cannot make the camp after we register?
If after registering, your child is unable to attend the camp, you need to contact us at least 2 weeks in advance so another child may be able to use the funds towards his/her camp. If you do not notify us in advance, you will not be eligible for a scholarship for at least the next year.
If your child does not attend the camp and you receive a refund, you must notify our office immediately. The scholarship funds must be returned to the City of College Park. Checks may be mailed to:
City of College Park, Finance Office
ATTN: Gary Fields
8400 Baltimore Ave., Suite 375
College Park, MD 20740
If you receive a refund and fail to return the scholarship to the City, your child will not be eligible for future scholarship opportunities.
- What if the camp my child wants to attend has a waitlist or the camp is canceled?
You will need to contact our office for other potential opportunities. If the camp is offering a refund, funds must be returned to the City (see question 5). If the camp is offering a credit, please notify our office so that we can have a record of how your child intends to use the credit and which camp they will attend.
