The University of Maryland’s President’s Task Force on Community is hosting a virtual listening session on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. where the community can share their experiences about campus safety.
The goal of the Presidential Task Force is to provide recommendations to enhance public safety and community policing that helps the University of Maryland move towards more collaborative and trusting partnerships between our public safety officials and the university community. In order to do this effectively, the University wants to hear from residents who live in the surrounding neighborhoods. Their goal is to create a space for the community to share experiences with safety around campus:
- What makes you feel safe or unsafe around campus?
- What suggestions do you have to improve safety on campus?
- How would you describe your direct or indirect interactions with the police?
This listening session will be facilitated by staff and faculty from UMD, and is a separate endeavor from the ongoing efforts around policing organized by the City of College Park.
