PALS In 2015 the City of College Park became the second Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability (PALS) community in Maryland. PALS is administered by the National Center for Smart Growth at the University of Maryland, College Park. The program harnesses the expertise of UMD faculty and the energy and ingenuity of UMD students to help Maryland communities become more environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable.

The City of College Park worked with PALS on the following projects:

  • Plans for a new City Hall, Plaza, and University building
  • Recommendations to reduce solid waste and increase recycling
  • Place-making through public art
  • Development of a Greenhouse Gas Inventory for city operations and for community activities

Links to the presentations for each project are located in the left column.  The final reports will be posted in June.
