M SQUARE RESEARCH PARK

Location:

4400, 4500, and 4600 River Road

Description: 

Development of three 5-story, 150,000 square foot buildings for general office and research use, surface parking lots, and a three level parking garage

Status:

The project's Detailed Site Plan was approved by the County Planning Board in March 2012. However, the buildings are not scheduled to begin construction until tenants have been identified.

THE BOULEVARD AT 9091

Location:

9091 Baltimore Avenue at the corner of Cherokee Road

Description: 

Plans for the 4.22-acre site show 238 apartments, 45 townhomes, and 3,995 square feet of retail. The plans are a change from the originally approved Detailed Site Plan (160 apartments and 40,000 square feet of retail) submitted by a prior developer. 

Status:

The project's Detailed Site Plan was unanimously supported by the City of College Park's City Council on December 3, 2013 and the Prince George's County Planning Board on December 12th, 2013. The project is expected to break ground in fall 2017.

TOWNEPLACE SUITES

Location:

9620-9624 Baltimore Avenue

Description: 

The nearly $6 million project will consist of a 75-room extended stay hotel operated by Marriott.

Status:

After receiving final zoning approval in late 2012, the applicant finalized the amendment of their Detailed Site Plan in December 2013.  Construction is expected to begin this fall and last approximately one year.

UNIVERSITY VIEW VILLAGE

Location:

8320-8400 Baltimore Avenue

Description: 

The third phase of the University View project will develop 272 housing units (992 beds) and 18,960 square feet of ground floor retail and 470 parking spaces. The first phase will consist of a parking garage, a 104-unit building and 10,530 square feet of retail.

Status:

The Planning Board approved the Detailed Site Plan with conditions on May 21, 2009 for a project to be built in two phases. An expected start date has not been given at this time.

LIDL
DSP - 07079-01

Location:

8601 Baltimore Avenue

Description: 

Germany-based Lidl is in the process of expanding into the mid-atlantic markets and College Park has recently approved plans for a 36,185 square foot grocery store to be located where the Clarion Inn is currently located.

Status:

The Planning Board approved the Detailed Site Plan with conditions for the project to be built. An expected start date has not been given at this time.
