Spring & Fall Cleanup Events
The Public Works Department is open four Saturdays in April from 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and two Saturdays in October for City residents to drop off trash and recycling. This is the only time you may bring items to Public Works for disposal (other than used motor oil). The following items will be accepted:
- Bulk trash
- Yard trim
- Brush, branches, and stumps
- Scrap metal
- Block Styrofoam
- Community Forklift donations
- GreenDrop donations (benefitting Military Order of the Purple Heart, the National Federation of the Blind, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Philadelphia)
Residents are allowed 1 free disposal of the following per year: A/C units, heat pumps, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, and freezers. There is a $35 fee for additional units.
There is a $4 charge for each tire.
Household hazardous waste (including shingles and propane tanks) will NOT be accepted.
Proof of City residency is required. Anyone can buy mulch or compost.
Please note: No shredding will be provided in 2018.

Alternate Shredding Opportunities
Eco Shred, LLC provides free shredding at their facility located at 5600 Columbia Park Rd, Cheverly, MD 20785 the last Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please call 240-688-1171 for more details.
