Complete streets provide equal access for all users whether they are walking, biking or driving. Providing more complete streets within the City would give our residents and visitors different, and potentially healthier, choices for travel. The City received a Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Transportation Land Use Connections (TLC) technical assistance grant in 2014 for a Complete and Green Streets Policy and Implementation Plan. MWCOG, with agreement from the City, selected the transportation engineering firm of Kittelson & Associates, Inc. to work on this project beginning in November, 2014. As part of their research, Kittelson conducted a public presentation and workshop about complete streets in April, 2015. Kittelson also delivered a presentation to the City Council in June, 2015. In 2015, the City received a complete streets-related COG TLC Grant for a Bicycle Boulevard Study. The City worked with a consultant from Sabra, Wang and Associates to determine the best routes for comfortable bicycling in the City.
